Sick Day Since it's the time of the year again where my instagram feed is flooded with memes about how everyone is getting sick and I start avoiding people even more than usual cause I almost died from pneumonia once, I got inspired to do some doodling.
I already explored the hilarity of man-flu Severus Snape in the past, so now I ventured on to man-flu Aegon (because Aemond would probably just suffer in silence).
And for the people who can't decipher my atrocious handwriting:
Top left Aemond: Still not better? Aegon: F*ck off.
Top right Servant: Is it enough blankets, your grace? Aegon: *miserable sniff
Middle Aegon: *violent sneeze Aegon: Kill me, Aemond. Aemond: Don't be so dramatic, your grace. Aegon: Your king demands it. Aemond: Let's get you back to bed. Bottom Aemond: I should be at a council meeting...I can't move. Artist's notes: 1. After drawing the picture of blanket-pile Aegon, I noticed he looks like an Onigiri. A friend of mine called him an "Aegonigiri" and I hate myself for not thinking of this joke first. 2. For the picture where he's napping on Aemond's shoulder I'd like you to imagine the most obnoxious stuffy-nose snoring. 3. I'm in love with the green and gold color scheme.

People be like "Russia is not imperialistic"đŸ€Ą - and then the most famous Ukrainian chef cannot open a restaurant of the most famous Ukrainian cultural food in Japan, because Japanese widely consider borscht a Russian dish and so would avoid the restaurant thinking it to be RussianđŸ«€đŸ«€đŸ«€đŸ€ŻđŸ€ŻđŸ€Ż

The thing about being a Sonic fan is that you will routinely see posts about how X Sonic game is better in the original japanese and the english version ruined it
And then the game in question was originally done in English and JP was the localization

He stood in the center of a busy street surrounded by extravagant lights, reds, greens, and whites all shining down on him and lighting up the area despite the late hour. The snow that had begun was light enough to not obscure the view quite yet; merely a small scattering of flurries before a potentially bigger storm. He stood with an uneven but genuine little smile as Mikoto held up his phone, peeking around the edge of it for a moment to smile back before snapping a picture.
A little moment that stuck with me from @lostxmelody 's beautiful fic, Life's Reflection! There were so many amazing scenes, but of course a big sap like me would latch onto this one...

Tonight I cooked Nikujaga [x] which is a Japanese beef and potato stew that I’ve always wanted to attempt. My dad sat in the next room, backseat driving the entire cooking process (I went to check on the potatoes halfway through and he heard the lid coming off the pot and called ‘it won’t be cooked yet!’ I know because it is fucking halfway)
I couldn’t buy dashi, so I substituted beef stock. I didn’t have mirin or sakĂ©, so I used shaoxing instead. So it wasn’t authentically Japanese, but I thought it would be a good approximation. As I was mixing my flavourings in a jug, Dad appeared over my shoulder and shoved in a spoonful of something.
‘What was that?’
‘Bit of Bovril! That’ll make it nice and beefy.’

Monday’s are so hectic for me 😭 I work at a bakery in the morning, then have classes all afternoon. Can’t complain tho, the break I get between my classes means I get drawing/reading time in the library >:) Also started up my Duolingo streak again, let’s see how long that lasts!
Tasks done:
‱ stretching first thing in the morning
‱ worked 3.5 hours
‱ lecture/class 4.5 hours
‱ completed digital art assignment
‱ 10 mins Japanese Duolingo

Apparently, they're making a Japanese adaptation of Love In The Air. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

In honour of its limited west end release, I'm gonna say it, the Death Note musical is not only far better than it has any right to be; it's the only logical adaptation choice. What is Death Note but a bunch of people staring into space while having really intense internal monologues? And what better way to dramatise that emotion than through a series of power ballads?
Other reasons the musical is great:
Tragic monster girlfriend getting the attention she deserves! In the manga, Rem was a glorified plot device. In the show, she has THE big emotional arc, THE tragic love song(s), THE ironic reprisals.
Successfully condenses the manga down into a 2 1/2 hour story that keeps the characters in tact and makes sense. If that sounds like damning with faint praise it absolutely isn't, look what happened to every other attempt.
the songs fuck!
